I had the honour of laying the wreath at the ceremony at Te Karaka.

My koro Bob Cookson meant so much to me. He went to war and he raised my mum and her siblings out at Te Karaka. It’s an understatement to say that I felt humbled.

Was awesome to hear Uncle Owen Lloyd talk about the futility of war and that today is to remember those past. It echoed what we spoke about as a family before we went out.

200 people at the Mangatu dawn service too. Ka mau te wehi!

Kia maumahara tonu matou ki a ratou.
